Painting and Drawing Process in the Laurie Maves ART studio

Here's just a bit of the process of making pieces from my "Entitled" series.

This one captured is one of my favorites - called "Love Is."

The completed piece is 16"x20" mixed media on paper.

After layers and layers of paint, chalk, and pencil, the finished piece you can see below:

Denver artist, Laurie Maves Art paints Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours"

For Monday's blog we will take a little trip down memory lane.

First I made this LOVED-based painting in my Denver studio:

"Look into your heart and you will find
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
It's our god forsaken right to be
LOVED LOVED LOVED..."Jason Mraz.

Then some dear friends of mine took the painting on a road trip:

and then people were inspired, and happy and danced and sang.

Happy Monday to you.
Keep spreading it.

the Big Blue Ball's "Whole Thing" painted as Poppies by Denver's live pa...

I saw this video this morning.
It's one of my favorite time lapse pieces, and it makes me want to run to the studio and make another one today.  But more importantly, my son who is my assistant in this video, Forest Coon, is now taller than me, and growing into a beautiful young man. I would like him to assist me in another painting, before he grows up and moves away to his own life. Time is going all too fast...

Chris Daniels and the Kings painting raises nearly $3500 for the LLS

About a month ago I had the fortune of performing/painting live alongside Colorado musician and Leukemia survivor, Chris Daniels. http://chrisdaniels.com/ He hosted a show with his band members at the Hard Rock Cafe in Denver as a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society / Rocky Mountain Chapter. http://www.lls.org/ What a brilliant evening of music and dancing and ART!

I chose the subject matter of Chris's current logo, a red truck with a giant guitar in the back, for the live painting. Following the show, the painting was auctioned off for nearly $3500! About 2 dozen attendees of the event made donations from $10-$500 to buy the painting in honor of the LLS and Chris. The Hard Rock Cafe has graciously agreed to host the painting to continue to promote awareness about the LLS.  We are all looking forward to seeing where the RED TRUCK will hang prominently in one of the restaurant's many locations around the planet. If you see it - let us know!
